Engineers Innovation Bootcamp
What is it?The Engineers Innovation Bootcamp is based on the fundamental belief that graduate engineers need more than the science basics they receive during their degree course. Graduate surveys indicate that there is a discrepancy between what has been learnt and what should have been learnt. Most indicated that people management, management of costs and resources, and broader business context would have significantly helped their transition into the work environment. Similarly, once in the working environment, graduates have a significant “fresh perspective” on which companies could capitalise, only graduates do not know how to develop their innovative thinking into a business case that management can both understand and respect. These aspects are the basis for building the Engineers Innovation Bootcamp. Covering Business Context, Innovation and Leadership, This is an opportunity for engineering students to understand the career they have chosen and the potential they have to influence business outcomes. The outline for this venture has been built in consultation with students, graduates and employers. Who is it for? From finishing their University degrees to taking the leap into the “real” world, graduates often get lost along the way, unsure of what is of expected of them and how to transition smoothly into a corporate environment. The Engineers Innovation Bootcamp is aimed at 3rd and 4th year engineering students of all disciplines. It has been designed in consultation with students, graduates and employers to provide an insight to the path a Graduate needs to follow upon completion of their degree. What to expectFour days of exciting and informative sessions, networking and workshops designed specifically for engineering students. The innovative four day Bootcamp will help guide the way from University to industry. The sessions have been designed to incorporate information about the modules required for chartered status to make the transition much smoother.
