Careers In Your Community

#job #jobsearch | Another great strategy for acquiring work is to consider the opportunities that exist in your local community.

Recently I was in my local library and happened to notice a guide titled “Focus Your Career – On the City of Fremantle”. I thought this was an excellent example of the hidden job market which I spoke about in a previous post.

If you value the opportunity to work close to home or even in another part of Perth that interests you, please consider the information in this blog post and add this approach to your employment search strategies.

Personal Branding 101 – Attire

Live. Work. Play. Singapore…

#intern #internship Recently I had the opportunity to moderate the Australian Business Icon Competition www.australianbusinessicon.com in Western Australia. The Final Four contestants were flown to Singapore on short notice and given the task of developing and presenting a marketing/promotion strategy to attract young Australian professionals to Live,Work & Play in Singapore. The strategies devised were of the highest quality and congratulations go to all of the final four contestants for their incredible work. An extra round of applause for the 2010 WA Business Icon Benjamin Smith whose Live, Work, Play slogan is the inspiration for this blog title, thanks Ben.

Off The Corporate Ladder And Onto Your Own.

A friend of mine recently got off the corporate ladder and decided to purchase a business with his family. I was pleased to see him enjoying his new role and engaging with the customers who came into his Chapman Road Lunch Bar in Bentley. He reflected on the change and said that although he was off the corporate ladder he was now on his own ladder. He acknowledged there was continual work to be done when self employed and that he was motivated to improve his business on a daily basis.

Owning your own business can be challenging and exhausting but will certainly be rewarding. If you are considering owning your own business you can check out the following to assist you:
