Down She Comes!

Well it had to happen! Our much loved old office building felt the bite of demolition machinery last week. Now it is just a pile of rubble being taken away by the truckload.

The redevelopment of Midland goes on around us

These are some photos of the reclamation work in progress taken from our Boardroom windows as “The Workshops” project starts really gearing up.

These former train yards are being reclaimed to be miraculously transformed into a magnificent people friendly precinct with a focus on the industrial heritage of the area, complimentary arts and artisans workshops, cafes, coffee shops and al fresco dining.

Launch of The Workshops

The Midland Redevelopment Authority hosted the official launch of The Workshops last night (13th March) in Midland.

The Workshops will be a groundbreaking revitalisation of Midland’s former Government Railway Workshops site. The aim is to create a thriving, sustainable and distinctly contemporary community in a unique environment.

The AELC is in the heart of this re-development with work going on all around us. Our boardroom now looks out over what will be the hub of the new cultural and community precinct. A few weeks ago we were looking at trains, then big yellow tonka trucks digging huge holes and before long? . . . . well we’ll wait and see what materializes; And we’ll keep you informed.

The newly emerging Midland is going to be a great place to live and/or work soon, so if you have any interest come out and look around. More information, brochures etc are available from the Midland Redevelopment Authority on the corner of Yelverton Drive and Helena Street, opposite our old office (Which is currently being knocked down – sob!)
