Tara Franzinelli, an 18 year old scholarship recipient from Curtin University of Technology has won the fourth Western Australian Business Icon competition.
An audience of 450 watched Tara face the judges along with three other finalists at a spectacular event within the Midland Railway Workshops last Saturday night, 18th October.
The judging panel included corporate luminaries Richard Goyder, CEO of Wesfarmers, Sam Walsh, CEO of Rio Tinto and Ric Hart, MD of Ric Hart stores.

The finalists, Ruveen Dias, Nesh Sooriakumaran, Kylie Adams and Tara were delivered into the room to the head of a very long red carpet via a gleaming white stretch Hummer.
Once on stage they each had to deliver a management plan to assess and deal with the possibility of a disaster striking Kwinana and effectively wiping out the states Diesel supply. Transport operators in particular would be hardest hit, leading on to all manner of problems and inconvenience for consumers and other stakeholders who depend on a constant supply of Diesel fuel.
In keeping with the transport theme, Jonesway trucks stood surrounding the stage and room.
Everyone saw plenty of the action with live video beamed to screens around the venue as MC Gerry Gannon guided us smoothly through the night. The massive audio/visual installation was supplied by Matrix Productions who were totally professional and accomodating, an absolute pleasure to deal with and have our highest recommendations. There is no way we could have staged this event so successfully without the help and input from Matrix, way above and beyond the call of duty.
