The 2010 WA Business Icon competition reached its conclusion on Monday with a huge event at the Grand Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency in Perth.
The final four contestants had arrived back in Perth the previous afternoon from their gruelling research expedition to Singapore, leaving little time to rest and prepare.
In front of a panel of eight high profile judges and an audience of over four hundred, the title of WA Business Icon was taken out by Benjamin Smith.
Ben is an Edith Cowan University graduate, currently working in local government whilst studying for a Master of Commerce at the University of WA and tutoring students from ECU’s faculty of Business and Law.

After the initial briefing at Contact Singapore, a part of the Singapore Government, the Business Icon finalists have been grilling our hosts with question after question about this modern dynamic city.
Notebooks are being rapidly filled up with facts and ideas.
Direct from last nights networking event in Perth, the WA Business Icon Finalists attended another networking event with the Australian High Commissioner and staff in Singapore at 8.30 this morning.
Despite getting little sleep and almost no time to freshen up before the meeting, everyone thought it was a tremendous opportunity and many new relationships were established. The finalists took every opportunity to meet and talk with as many people as possible, getting as much background hints and information that they could to assist with their rapid assimilation into the Singaporean business world, education and culture.
By 10am, the finalists were on the other side of the city being briefed by Contact Singapore on all the important statistics, trends and information they need to know.
